Default log rotation mechanism is not able to handle massive messages of xenstored-access.log

Change log rotation interval from daily to hourly, and lower down message volume of xenstore-access.log by changing log level from “local3.info” to “local3.emerg”

Action Plan:

– change log rotation from daily to hourly:

# cp /etc/cron.daily/logrotate /etc/cron.hourly/

# systemctl restart crond.service

– lower down message volume of xenstore-access.log by changing log level from “local3.info” to “local3.emerg”

1. Backup /etc/rsyslog.d/xenserver.conf

cp /etc/rsyslog.d/xenserver.conf ~

2. Modify /etc/rsyslog.d/xenserver.conf:

vi /etc/rsyslog.d/xenserver.conf

Example for setting loglevel as Emergency:

local3.emerg -/var/log/xenstored-access.log

3. Save & Exit from vi.

4. Restart rsyslog service:

# systemctl restart rsyslog.service
