Q: How to download and update the NetScaler Firmware?

A: Complete the following steps to download and update the NetScaler firmware:

  1. Navigate to Citrix Downloads.
  2. Click the arrow next to a major firmware version that you want to update to.
  3. Click the firmware arrow and select the firmware that you want to update to.

  4. Under Build section, click Download File to download the firmware.

    Note: The checksum is provided to ensure that you could match the downloaded build file with the actual file which is on the site. This is an important check to ensure that you have the correct bits.

Q: How to download and update a NetScaler VPX?

Complete the following steps to download and update a NetScaler VPX:

  1. Navigate to Citrix Downloads.
  2. Click the arrow next to a major firmware version that you want to update to.
  3. Click Virtual Appliances arrow and select the VPX release that you want to update to.

  4. Click Upgrade Package for Existing VPX Instances.
  5. Click Download File to download the firmware.

    Note: The checksum is provided to ensure that you could match the downloaded build file with the actual file which is on the site. This is an important check to ensure that you have the correct bits.

A: Safe Harbor (SaHa) build is a build which has been deployed in the field without major issues for a period of time. Thus this is a good candidate for POCs and production.

The SaHa builds can be downloaded from
Citrix Downloads. The following are the currently available SaHa builds:

  • NetScaler Release 10.5 Build 61.11 (Safe Harbor Build)
  • NetScaler Release 10.1 Build 131.11 (Safe Harbor Build)
