Explanation

This Warning event is logged when there are problems generating details for one or more entries in an offline address list. The most common cause for this event is when the details information of a user object is larger than the 64-kilobyte (KB) limit. This may occur when a user has many certificates. Because you cannot increase the 64-KB limit, the recommended solution is to remove any unnecessary certificates from the user object in Active Directory.

For details about the cause of this event, configure diagnostic logging on the OAL Generator category of the MSExchangeSA component to Medium or Maximum. Event 9320 may be logged with the following MSExchangeSA Warning and Error events:

Event 9323: Entry %1 has invalid or expired e-mail certificates. These certificates will not be included in the offline address list for %2.

Event 9109: OALGen encountered an error %1 (internal ID %2) while generating address list %3. Check other logged events to see if this is a serious error.

Event 9116: OALGen encountered an error while generating the%1 file for differential downloads of address list %2. Clients will not be able to incrementally update to the new version of the offline address list. This is normal if this is the first time this offline address list has been generated. There is no previous version for clients to start with. Check other logged events to see if this is a serious error.

Event 9321: OALGen could not generate full details for entry %1 in address list %2 because the total size of the details information is greater than 64 kilobytes.

Note   The description in Warning event 9321 indicates the user object that exceeds the 64-KB limit

User Action

  • Use Event Viewer to examine other events that provide more details about the cause of this Warning event. These additional events will disclose the offline address book that is affected. These additional events also indicate the user whose details information is larger than 64 KB. For more information, see the Explanation section earlier in this event.
  • Reduce the size of the details information of the user to be under the 64-KB limit. You can do this by removing unnecessary certificates from the user’s properties in Active Directory.

    2. Click View, and make sure that Advanced Features is selected.
