Details
Product: Exchange
Event ID: 2069
Source: MSExchangeDSAccess
Version: 6.5.6940.0
Component: Microsoft Exchange Directory Access Service
Message: Process <process name> (PID=<process id>). DSAccess could not find any Global Catalog servers in neither the local site ‘<name>‘nor the following sites: <name>

Explanation

This event indicates that the DSAccess process could not contact any global catalog in the forest. Either none could be discovered in the directory using the DsGetDcName process, or no global catalogs that were discovered could be reached through an LDAP call to Port 3268 (the global catalog port). DSAccess cannot operate without a global catalog because all searches for user information are sent to the global catalog.

  • Network connectivity issues may be preventing communication with the global catalog server.
  • The Exchange server could be pointing to the wrong DNS servers.
  • DNS may be incorrectly configured or the configured DNS servers may be down and not reachable.

User Action
  • Verify that at least one global catalog exists in the forest, that it is discoverable with DsGetDcName process, and that it is reachable from the Exchange server on Port 3268. If there are no global catalogs in the forest, use the Sites and Services MMC snap-in to promote a domain controller to a global catalog.
  • Verify that DNS is configured correctly on the Exchange Server and that the configured DNS servers are functional and reachable.
