This does not necessarily indicate a major problem, just a bottleneck. Network problems may be preventing messages from getting delivered or the message transfer agent (MTA) service may have stopped
Use Network Monitor to capture network traces, then view these traces from Network Monitor for any network issue. Verify that the MTA service is running on the computer to which the messages are being delivered. If desired, delete the messages from the queue. Right-click the backlogged queue, and then select either Delete All Messages (no NDR) or Delete All Messages (send NDR).
