Explanation

The use of parentheses allows any database record to span more than one line. This normally occurs in the SOA record, where variables are set to determine the refresh time for zone transfers. If you have data in a resource record that spans more than one line, the data must be in parentheses.

User Action

Edit the database file:

1. In Windows Explorer, go to the Systemroot\System32\Dns folder.
2. Double-click the specified file, and then select Notepad to open it.
3. Edit the specified line to correct the use of parentheses.
4. Save and close the database file.
5. Stop and restart DNS.
