If this error occurs when the computer restarts, no user action is required. If this error continues to occur, identify the performance counter registry that leads to the corrupted registry entries, and then restore the registry to a previous version of PerfStringBackup.ini in the %SystemRoot\System32 folder. The %SystemRoot%\System32 folder will have several PerfStringBackup*.ini files that represent the snapshots taken as more performance counters were added to the system. To restore to the previous snapshot, at the command prompt, type If this does not work, re-try with an older PerfStringBackupxxx.ini file. After you determine which file works, perform a text file difference between successive PerfStringBackupxxx.ini files to identify which counters need to be re-installed. When you determine which counters need to be reinstalled, re-install the program. |
