7022945: MissingMemberException error thrown when using EXTRACOM “late bound” VB.NET syntax

A MissingMemberException error is thrown when using EXTRACOM “late bound” Visual Basic .NET (VB.NET) syntax with Reflection Desktop 16, Reflection 2014, or Reflection 2011. This error occurs when working with the Reflection EXTRACOM API using VB.NET “late binding” syntax, (i.e., declaring variables “As Object”) so that VB.Net will look them up at runtime. Instantiating the EXTRACOM “System” object using the VB.NET “CreateObject” function succeeds, but any attempt to use methods or properties supplied by the System object will cause an exception in Visual Studio 2010 or 2012, as follows:

System.MissingMemberException was unhandled

HResult=-2146233070

Message=Public member ‘ActiveSession’ on type ‘MarshalByRefObject’ not found.

Re: REST API Auth with PHP

I’m hoping to see if I can get some guidance on how to auth against appsync with PHP. After reading through the documentation, and tearing apart what I saw from another post in powershell I wrote up a simple script in php- however when I attempt to complete the auth it returns the following message:

starting…

CAS is Unavailable

There was an error trying to complete your request. Please notify your support desk or try again.

done!

The “starting…” and “done!” are just echo’d statically for my sanity. Not sure where to debug as this is within CAS, within Appsync so any help would be great!

The code is as follows:

<?php

echo “starting…”;

$appsyncServer = “myserver”;

$LoginUri = https://.$appsyncServer.“:8444/cas-server/login?TARGET=https://.$appsyncServer.“:8445/appsync/”;

$ch = curl_init($LoginUri);

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 60);

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_COOKIEJAR, ‘-‘);

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, 0);

$curl_response = curl_exec($ch);

echo “<br />”;

if ($curl_response === false) {

$info = curl_getinfo($ch);

$error = curl_error($ch);

curl_close($ch);

echo “<br /> The error: <br />”;

print $error;

echo “<br /> More details <br />”;

die(‘error occured during curl exec. Additional info: ‘ . var_export($info));

}

$login_arr = array(“username” => “myuser” , “password” => “mypassword”);

$ch = curl_init($LoginUri);

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 60);

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $login_arr);

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);

curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, 0);

$curl_response = curl_exec($ch);

curl_close($ch);

print_r($curl_response);

echo “<br />done!”;

?>

Thanks in advance!

Splunk Intgration

I need a solution

Trying to get SEP Cloud events into Splunk Enterprise v6.6.1 running on a Windows Server.

I created the scripted input per the Symantec Technote, however it doesnt appear to be working.

The following appears in splunkd.log:

ERROR ExecProcessor – Couldn’t start command “”C:Program FilesSplunkbinscriptswrapper.sh””: FormatMessage was unable to decode error (193), (0xc1)

Also, the following error occurs when trying to run the ExportClient.py script directly from a command line:

C:Program FilesSplunkbin>splunk cmd python scriptsExportClient.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
File “scriptsExportClient.py”, line 8, in
import dateutil.parser
ImportError: No module named dateutil.parser

It appears some python modules are not installed with the version of python that is included with Splunk.

Has anyone managed to get this working?

Is there additional information available regarding what’s needed to get this working?

Java Security Warning

The same Java updates (Java 7 update 21 and Java 6 update 45) also make other changes that may cause Java security warnings when users connect to the Reflection for the Web management server.

Figure 2 – Security Warning – Block potentially unsafe components from being run?

Resolution

To resolve this issue, maintained customers can contact Technical Support (http://support.attachmate.com/contact/) to obtain the hotfix appropriate for their product version:

Reflection for the Web 2011: 11.0.588

Reflection for the Web 2008 R3: 10.2.547

Note: This issue has been resolved in Reflection for the Web 2014 and Refection Security Gateway 2014.

Cause

Oracle released Java 7 update 21 and Java 6 update 45; both Java updates include a change in how command strings are decoded. This change affects how Reflection launches client sessions. The error does not occur on clients running earlier versions of Java.
