This Error event indicates that the Exchange Setup program was unable to upgrade the database to the version that is specified in the event description. The database may be out of upgrade sequence, or there may be a problem with consistency in the database. This event may be logged in upgrade scenarios.

User Action

To resolve this error, depending on the error returned in the error text, perform one or more of the following:

  • Verify that the version of Microsoft Exchange that you are using is compatible with the database version that you are trying to mount. If they are not compatible, try to mount the database on a server that is running the correct version of Exchange.

  • Review the Application log for related events that might indicate if the database is corrupted or not. If the database is corrupted, restore the database from backup to a known good state. If you cannot restore the database, contact Microsoft Product Support Services for assistance running the Information Store Integrity Checker (Isinteg.exe) tool.

  • If this error is the result of an upgrade that failed, try to upgrade the database again.
