This event indicates an inability to connect to Active Directory. This usually results in an inability to start the Information Store service and should, therefore, be investigated immediately.

  • The Authenticated Users group does not have read access in the Domain container or in the Configuration containers in Active Directory.
  • The global catalog is unreachable or may be in a different domain.
  • The Exchange server may have been renamed.
  • Exchange Enterprise Servers security group does not have “Manage auditing and security logs” permissions on the domain controller.
User Action
  • Ensure that the Authenticated Users Group has Read Permissions on the Domain and Configuration containers.
  • Ensure that the global catalog server is running and reachable.
  • Verify that the server was not renamed after installation of Exchange.
  • Run Policytest.exe to check if the Exchange Enterprise Servers security group has the ‘”Manage auditing and security logs'” permission on the domain controller.
