Message: The Microsoft Exchange Replication Service was unable to create a network share named %2 for %1. Please verify that a network share with this name does not already exist.

Explanation

This Error event indicates that the Microsoft® Exchange Replication (MSExchangeRepl) service cannot create a network share with the specified name because a network share with the specified name already exists. Therefore, the Microsoft Exchange Replication service will point to the directory that is associated with the already existing share instead of the directory that is required to replicate the specified storage group. The Microsoft Exchange Replication service does not have permissions to delete the existing share and create a new one.

For more information, see the following topics:

User Action

To resolve the error, delete the existing network share if it exists. The Microsoft Exchange Replication service will automatically try to create a new network share.

If you are not already doing so, consider running the tools that Microsoft Exchange offers to help administrators analyze and troubleshoot their Exchange environment. These tools can help you make sure that your configuration is in line with Microsoft best practices. They can also help you identify and resolve performance issues, improve mail flow, and better manage disaster recovery scenarios. Go to the Toolbox node of the Exchange Management Console to run these tools now. For more information about these tools, see Toolbox in the Exchange Server 2007 Help.
