Explanation

This Error event indicates the user’s custom personal greeting stored at the mailbox is corrupted. As the result, a standard personal greeting that includes the user’s name will be used until a new custom greeting is recorded by the user. Personal greetings are played to the caller who asks to leave a message when your extension is busy or there is no answer. This event may be caused by the following conditions:

  • The mailbox is corrupted.

  • The mailbox database is dismounted on the server that has the Mailbox server role installed.

  • The Microsoft® Exchange Information Store service is stopped.

User Action

To resolve this error, do one or more of the following:

  • Request that the user specified in the event description re-record their custom greeting. The customer greeting can be recorded using Microsoft Office Outlook® 2007, Microsoft Outlook Web Access, Microsoft Outlook 2007, or Microsoft Outlook Voice Access. For more information, see How to Record a Voice Mail Greeting.

  • Make sure that the mailbox database where the user mailbox resides is mounted.

  • Make sure that the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is started.

If you are not already doing so, consider running the tools that Microsoft Exchange offers to help administrators analyze and troubleshoot their Exchange environment. These tools can help you make sure that your configuration is in line with Microsoft best practices. They can also help you identify and resolve performance issues, improve mail flow, and better manage disaster recovery scenarios. Go to the Toolbox node of the Exchange Management Console to run these tools now. For more information about these tools, see Toolbox in the Exchange Server 2007 Help.
