7022538: BDI Query with Macro Expressions does not work when initial query returns 0 rows

This document (7022538) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

Operations Center 5.X

Situation

You have Data Integrator (BDI) Adapter based off of a BDIDefinition which is setup to do a Delta Query using MacroExpressions. On starting the Adapter the initial BDI query returns0 rows from the given database, and in the Formula.trc you see awarning stating the BDI Adapter is throwing a type mismatchmessage.

Resolution

Modify the BDI Definition to check if the Computed property isset to NULL or is set to a value.
Example BDI Definition:
#if ( ${query.initial} ||!${query.getProperty().ComLastOccurTime})
DATEADD(ss, LastOccurTime, ‘19700101’) > dateadd(hour, -1, getdate())
#else
LastOccurTime > ‘${query.getProperty().ComLastOccurTime}’
#end
In the above example I have${query.getProperty().ComLastOccurTime} as my computedproperty.

Cause

The cause is due to Macro Expression Engine setting the“computed” property to “NULL” when the initial query returns 0rows. On the next iteration of the BDI Adapter it will execute theelse portion of the statement and plug in “NULL” for the “Computed”property.

7017533: SSPR local database grows and fills volume

This document (7017533) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

Self Service Password Reset

SSPR 3.x
SSPR 4.0

Situation

SSPR internal derby data base growing too large and filling up volume
How to control size of SSPR local database

Resolution

Do the following:
1. Limit what SSPR is logging by adjusting the settings in the SSPR Configuration editor under Settings/ Logging (such as the max age, log level and max number of events). De-selecting “Enable LDAP Wire Trace” will dramatically reduce the amount of data that is logged.
2. Export the LocalDB contents using SSPR Configuration Manager
3. Stop SSPR (unload Tomcat)
4. Delete the contents of the local database. In a Windows installation this will be everything under LocalDB/derby-db. In a Linux installation the local db is located in the LocalDB/xodus directory. By default in an IDM installation this will be/opt/netiq/idm/apps/sspr/sspr_data/LocalDB/xodus. Delete everything in the xodus or derby-dy directory. 5. Restart SSPR and the LocalDB will be re-created.

Additional Information

With SSPR 4.1 and later, the SSPR local database will be self-regulating / self shrinking.
With previous versions of SSPR, once the derby-based localDB grows on disk, it will always claim that amount of disk space unless it is deleted and forced to start over.
Usually the largest consumer of the local SSPR database is the eventlog DB, which is a copy of the debug stored in the localDB. This is what is shown in the SSPR Configuration Manager log viewers. Limiting the content and size of the LocalDB eventlog can have a big impact on how large the LocalDB will grow.

7022258: Deletion Job by Expiration date is including mail in the future

This document (7022258) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

Retain 4.2+

Situation

When running a Deletion Management job and the Profile is set to find all mail that has an expiration date older than (x) amount of days, the CSV report will show that there is mail with an expiration date in the future showing on the list

Resolution

This only happens when the Indexes and the Database do not match their records. The only solution would be to reindex everything so that the indexes are referring to the correct expiration date. Depending on size of indexes and thread speeds, this can take days or weeks to complete.

Cause

There are 2 possible causes to this issue. Either the expiration date was manually changed in the database (which won’t work because that will not change the expiration date in the indexes) or the indexes were corrupted at some point. In either case, the resolution of reindexing is the only way to correct to the problem.

How do I serialize a fragment of a DFDL

I have a DFDL complex object which consists of multiple Records. I want to retrieve the string representation of the DFDL record. However when I pass this record to the ASBITSTREAM function, the entire DFDL tree is serialized, rather than the record it points to.

Is there a way to serialize only the Record I’m interested in?

DECLARE voucherRecord REFERENCE TO InputRoot.DFDL.ElectronicVouchers.Record[MSGNUM];
When I call a conversion function below,

CALL convertDfdlToText(voucherRecord) into someText;

CREATE PROCEDURE convertDfdlToText(IN recordRef REFERENCE ) RETURNS CHARACTER
BEGIN

DECLARE bPayload BLOB ASBITSTREAM( recordRef CCSID 1208 ENCODING 546);
DECLARE cPayload CHARACTER CAST (bPayload AS CHARACTER CCSID 1208 ENCODING 546);
return cPayload;
END;
